We love our freedom, and we arrest women in t-shirts to keep it.

Why is George Bush afraid of this woman?
Simply because lies are exposed by a truth that will not be silenced.

Considering that a politician's main job is PR, it always surprises me how badly they handle the PR in these situations. The administration is doing the PR equivalent of turning its back on an angry dog and running away in terror... guaranteed to trigger an attack.
When she was camping out near the White House, I always thought the smart thing would be to stroll out and chat with her, maybe bring pizza. That looks caring and in control, rather than secretive and nervous.

I can't imagine that it's Sheehan per se that anyone in PNAC is concerned with, it's just that giving her air time is giving air time to dissent. For most of the viewing audience if there's no dissent mentioned in the No-Spin Zone then there is no dissent.
My beef with Sheehan (and too many like her): It took the death of a relative to make her question the war?

Why is that a surprise? Americans are a lazy, complacent people by nature. Even those of us inclined to think about issues quickly lose hope of any improvement, since we have essentially zero power to influence anything.
Under these circumstances, the traumatic loss of one's child is one of the few things I WOULD expect to kick-start the average person into making a fuss -- even the laziest man will move if you light his sofa on fire.
