Da Bean
At Boing Boing they're upset the public can't shoot pictures of a sculpture in Millennium Park. They specifically mentioned Kapoor's Cloud Gate (refered by locals as "Da Bean"). BoingBoing reported that the public couldn't take pictures of Da Bean. BB didn't break the story, but linked to a blog entry. A closer read of the original article (Pg 1, 2, 3) says specifically that "the policy allows students, journalists, and amatuer photographers to shoot in the park with no restrictions."
I read that as artists trying to block others from making cash off their artwork. It sure sounds like a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial license to me. What's the problem?
You can find images of Da Bean here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here (art), on flickr and the Public Building Commission page.
