I was Blocked!!!!
I'm staying in a Days Inn tonight. I booked this motel because they told me they had wireless in-room access. I arrived a couple of hours ago. It's wired of course, but I always carry a cat5 cable. So, obviously, I'm on.
I opened FeedDemon and updated all my favorite blogs. I try to read jenett.radio everyday. (Even though I have to open Firefox to read the posts. Please tell me there is a full text feed that I missed.)
Tonight, instead of the usual witty post, I received this:
Cendant - It appears you have attempted to access an Internet site that is of a non-business related nature. If you feel you have received this message in error, please contact Network Control and report the site you are attempting to access. Or send an email to the DirecWay Support Team.

Evidently I am only allowed "business related" surfing. So I tried this site. No dice. I can log in through a different address and write a post. I just can't read it.
I'm not going to bother with the hotel clerk. I made the mistake of asking what was the IP address of the DHCP server.
I realize I am a novice traveler. When I booked the room I didn't think to ask if they planned to protect my eyes from the dangers of the Internet. Is such filtering the norm in the hotel industry? I do know I now have to be more specific when I book a room.
