Fahrenheit 9/11
This is simple: you're reading my blog. I have a bias. I have an agenda.
So does every one who reads this blog. You know my bias unless you've stumbled here by accident. I'll make it easy for you: I don't believe Bush II was elected President of the USA.
What follows is less a film review than an emotional recall of a film. If you haven't seen Fahrenheit 9/11 I won't reveal items you'd wish to view for yourself. If you want a blow-by-blow of the film and a traditional review read Slate or Roger Ebert.
I'll start right off the bat and state that Michael Moore did not create a documentary: "Presenting facts objectively without editorializing or inserting fictional matter, as in a book or film."
Hell, that definition would include the TV series Survivor.
"...without editorializing..." is the key. I believe the mere act of editing is an editorial statement. In Fahrenheit 9/11 Michael Moore edits the hell out of reality. We don't time for a four-year documentary.
I predict every right wing Bush apologist is screaming: "Moore lies! He doesn't show everything!"
You're right. He doesn't. He doesn't need to. This film was created for those who have lived in America since November 2000. We know what happened. It unfolded in the newspapers, on television, and over the Internet. The problem was the sheer mountain of the details. The facts spouted and left unchecked by the press. The bald-faced lies repeated ad nauseum until they carried the weight of familarity and the glaze of truthfulness.
Michael Moore created a cinematic editorial tour de force to cut through all the bullshit of the "War on Terror." Fahrenheit 9/11 is film noir. Fahrenheit 9/11 is propaganda. Fahrenheit 9/11 is the truth.
If you believe Bush II was created by the Supreme Court you will applaud Fahrenheit 9/11. If you believe that a power elite sees our population as cannon fodder you will applaud Fahrenheit 9/11. You should see the film ASAP.
If you believe in Bush II you won't go see Fahrenheit 9/11. You'll listen to "journalists" and "pundits" at sources such as Fox News and boycott the film. Your mind and heart is already closed to the suffering that has been caused by those who trade in fear.
If you're on the fence I'll hope you leave right now to go see Fahrenheit 9/11 because I have only two words left for you:
