Yesterday I linked to the Warren Ellis' website diepunyhumans to mention his photo stunt.
I can't tell you how many pictures were sent to Warren, but I decided to see what I could discover about the nine included in the entry at 10:14.
Why? Either I was first or last to make this group. The nine are:
Lauren Martin, diffrentcolours, Eddie Cochrane, Paul Hendrick, Ed Hickcox, Chad Wood. L.E., Josh Brandt, Me
With cursory search I've discovered: Lauren Martin's website is venusinfurs.org. She's contributed to diepunyhumans at least once before and if she could be a fruit she'd be a pomegranate.
I wonder if this is diffrentcolours? And if so is this comment by the same guy?
Eddie Cochrane's real name isn't Eddie. He's a SF fan, runs a few Blake's 7/Babylon 5 conventions, and lives in "Berkshire in the South East of England." There is a lot more, but the fun is reading for yourself on his website.
I struck out with Paul Hendrick.
I wonder if Ed Hickcox writes for the Journal of the Fantasy Geographic Society or if he lives in Georgia?
All I can tell you about Chad Wood is that he once held a Rolling Rock bottle.
Does Scotland, Edinburgh, and Science Fiction all play or have played into L.E.'s life?
Josh Brandt takes pictures of mushrooms, grew up in a house with some really nice woodwork crafted by his father, played in a band called Many Small Functions, and has a very funny resume. (No, really, that is his. Refresh the page.)
I would guess Ellis started this photo stunt to remind everyone that there are persons behind all the nicknames, websites, and IP addresses. People that we might normally walk by without a glance. I took an hour or so to get a glimpse of a few tonight. I can't say I learned any great lessons, but it was nice to be reminded of the commonality of humanity.
(And if you have any information about the 10:14 nine...let me know at (spell out 9) at domoni.com/me)
Update: (April 22, 2004) As a favor I have removed some identity information from this entry. Remember -- personal information is suprisingly easy to find.
